The Vegas Golden Knights acquired forward Brett Howden from the New York Rangers in exchange for defenseman Nick DeSimone and a 2022 fourth-round pick, the teams announced Saturday.
Howden put up one goal and six assists in 42 games with the Rangers this season while averaging over 12 minutes of ice time per contest. The 23-year-old center was drafted 27th overall by the Tampa Bay Lightning in 2016 and was later traded to the Rangers in 2018. He is set to make $885,000 in 2021-22.
DeSimone has spent his professional career at the AHL level. The 26-year-old registered 11 points in 22 games split between the San Jose Barracuda and Rochester Americans in 2020-21. He ended up in Vegas from San Jose via a three-team trade in April.
