The Los Angeles Kings signed defenseman Alex Edler to a one-year contract worth $3.5 million, the team announced Wednesday.
The veteran blue-liner had spent his entire 15-year career with the Vancouver Canucks. He's the franchise's all-time leader among defensemen in games played (925), goals (99), and points (409).
Edler has averaged more than 20 minutes per game each season since 2007, and though his offense has declined, he remains capable of being deployed against top competition.
The Canucks drafted Edler in the third round in 2004.
