Jeanneret joined the Sabres on the radio in 1971 and is the longest-tenured play-by-play announcer for a single team in NHL history. He's been a part of every one of Buffalo's seasons since the club's creation, except for the team's inaugural campaign.
The 79-year-old has flirted with the idea of retirement over the last decade and had previously indicated that last season would likely be his last. Jeanneret was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2012.
