The Dallas Stars assigned goaltender Anton Khudobin to the AHL after he cleared waivers Tuesday, according to The Dallas Morning News' Matthew DeFranks.

Khudobin last appeared in a contest Nov. 18 when he allowed seven goals against the Minnesota Wild. General manager Jim Nill said Dallas waived Khudobin because he needs to see game action and the club needs a roster spot due to injuries.

The 35-year-old has one year left on his contract after this season with a $3.33-million cap hit. Khudobin's struggled in the seven contests he's played in so far in 2021-22, managing an .873 save percentage and 3.73 goals against average.

Teams have expressed interest in Khudobin but would likely prefer to make a trade so that the Stars can retain salary or take a contract back, TSN's Pierre LeBrun reports.

With Ben Bishop officially announcing his retirement, veteran Braden Holtby and youngster Jake Oettinger will share the Stars' crease for the time being.
