The Detroit Red Wings signed defenseman Mark Pysyk to a one-year contract worth $850,000, the team announced Thursday.
Pysyk spent last season with the Buffalo Sabres, registering 12 points in 68 games. The 30-year-old has also had stints with the Florida Panthers and the Dallas Stars, posting strong underlying numbers throughout his career.
Detroit has been one of the league's most active teams to start free agency. General manager Steve Yzerman brought in Ben Chiarot, Andrew Copp, Dominik Kubalik, and David Perron when the window opened Wednesday.
