Colorado Avalanche superstar Cale Makar took a subtle jab at New York Rangers netminder Igor Shesterkin after the reigning Vezina Trophy winner put a little something extra on a key save in overtime Friday night.

Makar commented on the play following the 2-1 shootout loss.

"For me, I just walked over to the slot and made a good shot," he said, per DNVR Sports' Jesse Montano. "Their goalie's all about the show, so. It went straight in his glove. Nice little windmill there."

Shesterkin was sensational in New York's triumph, stopping 41 shots as Colorado dominated puck possession for the majority of the contest. The Avalanche controlled 57.85% of shot attempts and 69.94% of expected goals, but Shesterkin stood tall with 2.28 goals saved above expected, according to Evolving-Hockey.

The Rangers' workhorse hasn't been nearly as spectacular this season after posting eye-popping numbers en route to nearly sweeping the Vezina vote for 2021-22. Shesterkin is 13-4-4 on the season with a .917 save percentage and 2.50 goals against average but has been particularly strong of late, only losing twice in regulation over his past 10 starts while posting a .924 clip.
