Predators sign UFAs O'Reilly, Schenn, Nyquist
The Nashville Predators signed unrestricted free agents Ryan O'Reilly, Luke Schenn, and Gustav Nyquist, the team announced Saturday.
O'Reilly inked a four-year pact worth $4.5 million annually, Schenn signed a three-year contract with an average annual value of $2.75 million, and Nyquist penned a two-year deal with a $3.185-million cap hit.
Schenn and O'Reilly joined the Toronto Maple Leafs prior to the 2023 trade deadline.
One of the most coveted centers on this summer's free-agent market, O'Reilly put up 30 points in 53 games this past season between the St. Louis Blues and Maple Leafs. He chipped in with three goals and six assists in 11 playoff contests while helping Toronto win its first postseason series since 2004.
The Maple Leafs pried O'Reilly and Noel Acciari away from the Blues in exchange for a 2023 first-round pick, a 2024 second-round pick, a 2023 third-round pick, and forwards Mikhail Abramov and Adam Gaudette.
O'Reilly, 32, spent time on the sidelines this past season with a broken foot and broken finger. He put up four goals and seven assists in 13 contests with the Maple Leafs, good for a 69-point pace over a full 82-game season. He won 62% of his faceoffs in Toronto.
Toronto acquired Schenn from the Vancouver Canucks in February for a 2023 third-round selection. He put up four goals and 18 assists in 70 total contests and led the league with 318 hits.
Schenn added one assist in 11 playoff games and recorded 17:27 of ice time per contest while skating on the top pair with Morgan Rielly.
Nyquist split the 2022-23 campaign between the Columbus Blue Jackets and Minnesota Wild, amassing 27 points in 51 regular-season outings before adding five assists in six playoff games.
