The Carolina Hurricanes have announced the signing of free agent forward Sergey Tolchinsky, via their official website.
The undrafted 18-year old played for the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds of the OHL in 2012-13, scoring 26 goals and 25 assists in 62 games and finishing the season ranked second in goals and tied for third in points among OHL rookies. He attended the New York Rangers’ and Hurricanes’ prospects development camps as an invitee this summer.
Tolchinsky agreed to a three-year, entry-level contract with the team that will see him earn $550,000 at the NHL level or $55,000 in the AHL in the first year, $550,000 in the NHL or $67,500 in the AHL in the second year, and $575,000 in the NHL or $67,500 in the AHL in the third year.
He will also receive a signing bonus of $150,000.
