Hurricanes shake up front office with training camp set to begin
The Carolina Hurricanes have made a move in their front office as training camp gets set to begin on Tuesday, as reported by the team's web producer.
Karmanos, son of Hurricanes owner Peter Karmanos Jr., was in his 15th year in the Hurricane's hockey operations department and had been serving as the team's Executive Vice President and Assistant General Manager since December of 2009.
According to the team's official website, His main duties were in player evaluations, contract negotiations and player movements, and he also oversaw the day-to-day operations of the hockey club and the Hurricanes’ affiliates in the AHL and ECHL.
These duties will now reportedly be split between Ron Francis and Darren Yorke; Francis had been holding the role of Vice President of Hockey Operations, and Darren Yorke was the team's Video Scout and Hockey Operations Assistant.
No official reason has been given for the change, but it's an interesting move to make with training camp just two days away.
