Blue Jackets prospect Dano not focused on making NHL
Columbus Blue Jackets prospect Marko Dano told KHL media members he is not thinking about his NHL career. The first round pick, 27th overall in the 2013 entry draft is focused on making a name for himself in the KHL.
The 18-year old forward is from Eisenstadt, Austria and is playing the 2013-14 season with HC Slovan Bratislava of the KHL. Dano has played four games this season for Slovan Bratislava scoring one goal.
In an interview with R-Sport, Dano was asked about the NHL and his desire to join the Blue Jackets. "I'm not paying any attention to it. I'm just playing the same sort of hockey as a year ago. I've gotten bigger and stronger over a season in the NHL, and now I need to create more and take my scoring chances."
The World Junior Championship is what Dano has his eye on, "I'm faced with having to be a leader, but that will only be in December, so for now I only have to think about the KHL."
If this is any indication of Dano's future plans, the Blue Jackets may have a hard time getting him to come play in the NHL if he develops further.
