McDavid: Amazon docuseries captured 'most vulnerable' moments
Edmonton Oilers superstar Connor McDavid was at the forefront of the viral trailer for Amazon's new "FACEOFF: Inside the NHL" series on Monday, and he offered some perspective on the clip that showed him laying into his teammates during the Stanley Cup Final.
At the 1:14 mark of the video below, McDavid can be seen yelling in the dressing room: "That's not good enough. It's the Finals. Dig in, right now."
The video was after Game 2 of Edmonton's loss to the Florida Panthers and is just one of several intense moments captured by camera crews.
"You're going to see us at our most vulnerable," McDavid said, per Sportsnet's Mark Spector. "You can't say that we didn't let (the cameras) in. They shot things in our most intense moments, most meaningful moments.
"You know, they shot it. They may as well use it."
The six-part docuseries airs Oct. 4 and includes two episodes covering the Stanley Cup Final.
"It was never my plan to be the star of the show," McDavid said. "I think we wanted to dip our toe in but ... here we are. Head first off the diving board."
He added: "You're going to see hockey players, but you're going to see the human side of it. You're going to see joy on one side, and you're going to see a lot of heartbreak on one side as well."
The Stanley Cup Final episodes also feature access with Leon Draisaitl, Matthew Tkachuk, and Zach Hyman. Earlier episodes include the likes of William Nylander, David Pastrnak, Jack Eichel, and Quinn Hughes, among other prominent players.
