Peterka concussed after high hit from Dillon
Buffalo Sabres forward JJ Peterka sustained a concussion during Saturday's contest against the New Jersey Devils after taking a high hit from defenseman Brenden Dillon in the first period, head coach Lindy Ruff announced postgame.
Peterka immediately left the game and was ruled out as the second period started.
The incident was reviewed as a major for a hit to the head but was ultimately deemed an interference minor. Alex Tuch fought Dillon immediately afterward.
Peterka registered a career-high 28 goals and 50 points for the Sabres last season. The 22-year-old notched an assist on Buffalo's only goal during Friday's 4-1 defeat to open the 2024-25 campaign.
Dillon joined the Devils this past offseason on a three-year, $12-million contract.
The Sabres don't play again until Oct. 10 after going 0-2 versus the Devils in Prague.
