The Toronto Maple Leafs signed forwards Max Pacioretty and Steven Lorentz to one-year contracts on Monday after both started training camp on professional tryouts.

Pacioretty's deal is worth $873,770 while Lorentz will earn $775,000. The contracts bring the Maple Leafs over the $88-million salary limit, meaning Toronto will have to make a corresponding move to become cap compliant by Monday's 5 p.m. deadline.

Pacioretty recorded 23 points in 47 games with the Washington Capitals last season. The 16-year veteran has struggled with injuries the past few campaigns but has 902 career games and 330 goals under his belt.

Lorentz spent last season with the Florida Panthers, chipping in with three playoff points in a depth role as the club won the Stanley Cup.

Toronto also signed AHL defenseman Cade Webber to a two-year extension. The contract becomes one-way for the 2026-27 season.
