Calgary Flames forward Yegor Sharangovich was placed on injured reserve and is out week-to-week with a lower-body injury, the team announced Monday.
Sharangovich led the Flames with 31 goals last season and ranked second with 59 points - both career highs. Calgary acquired the 26-year-old from the New Jersey Devils in the June 2023 Tyler Toffoli trade.
The Flames rewarded Sharangovich's breakout campaign with a five-year, $28.75-million contract extension over the summer. When the deal kicks in next season, he'll be Calgary's third highest-paid player behind Jonathan Huberdeau and Nazem Kadri.
Calgary begins its regular season Oct. 9 against the Vancouver Canucks.
