Lecavalier excited for Flyers debut
For the first time in his 15-year career, Vincent Lecavalier will begin an NHL season not wearing a Tampa Bay Lightning jersey.
Signed to a five-year, $22.5 million contract with the Philadelphia Flyers during the off-season, Lecavalier told NHL.com that he's eager to get started.
"I'm definitely really excited. Any opening night, especially when it's your first game with a new team, it's definitely extra special. I've never been through it. I've had a lot of great years in Tampa but I'm happy to be here. I think we have a great hockey team and I'm just excited to start."
The 33-year-old will be the elder statesman on the Flyers second line Wednesday night against Toronto, centering Wayne Simmonds and Brayden Schenn.
