Jonathan Bernier dominant in Leafs debut

Goaltender Jonathan Bernier, acquired by the Toronto Maple Leafs this summer in exchange for backup goaltender Ben Scrivens and winger Matt Frattin, made his Leafs debut on Wednesday night in Philadelphia. It went pretty well for him.

With his team playing the second of back-to-back road games, Bernier was dominant against the Philadelphia Flyers. The young netminder was challenged early and often, and proved himself up to the task turning away 14 of 15 shots in the first period alone, and 31 of 32 shots overall.

Late in the second period Jonathan Bernier stoned Philadelphia winger Wayne Simmonds on a penalty-shot. He was also the club's best penalty-killer, stopping 12 of the 13 shots he faced while Toronto was short-handed.
