Karri Ramo first goalie other than Miikka Kiprusoff to start season for Flames in 10 years
The Calgary Flames bid farewell to Miikka Kiprusoff this offseason as their long-standing goaltender retired after a 13-year NHL career. Due to this, some change was necessary in the Flames' cage.
Enter Karri Ramo.
Ramo got the start for the Flames in their season opener against the Capitals and brings with him a certain distinction for Calgary.
Karri Ramo is also the first goalie other than Miikka Kiprusoff to start the season in net for the @NHLFlames since Roman Turek in 2003-04.

Only time will tell if Ramo can fill the rather large shoes left behind by Kiprusoff but perhaps this is a signifier that the Flames' rebuild has finally, actually started.
