New York Rangers star Artemi Panarin is considered day-to-day with an upper-body injury and missed Sunday's 3-2 loss to the St. Louis Blues.

Panarin leads New York with 15 goals and 36 points - including 24 at even strength - in 29 outings.

The news is another blow for the floundering Rangers, who have now lost 10 of their past 13 games. Their three wins over this stretch have come against the Montreal Canadiens, Pittsburgh Penguins, and Buffalo Sabres, who are all at or near the bottom of their respective divisions.

Winger Kaapo Kakko was also out versus St. Louis but as a healthy scratch, according to The Athletic's Peter Baugh.

New York attempted to shake things up by trading captain Jacob Trouba to the Anaheim Ducks in early December, but the team has lost four times in six contests since the move.

Panarin has led the Rangers in points in each of the previous five seasons.
