Tampa Bay Lightning defenseman J.J. Moser is out 8-to-10 weeks because of a lower-body injury, the team announced Thursday.

Moser has already missed three games because of the injury and was placed on injured reserve Saturday.

The 24-year-old was the main piece of the return Tampa Bay received from Utah Hockey Club in the Mikhail Sergachev trade. Moser's accrued 10 points in 27 games this season and averaged nearly 20 minutes per contest.

The Lightning signed Moser to two-year contract worth $3.375 million per season shortly after acquiring him.

Tampa Bay currently holds the top wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference with 36 points through 29 games.
