Guentzel day-to-day, misses loss to Canadiens

Tampa Bay Lightning forward Jake Guentzel was forced to sit out a 5-2 loss to the Montreal Canadiens on Sunday.

Guentzel is considered day-to-day with what the club called an upper-body injury.

He departed during the third period of Saturday's 6-2 victory over the New York Rangers, though it was just for precautionary reasons.

"He got hit pretty good, but I talked to him after and he said he was going to be fine," Cooper said postgame Saturday, according to the Tampa Bay Times' Eduardo A. Encina. "In these situations, some guys, if we don't have to play them, we don't play them, so he should be good tomorrow."

Guentzel has racked up 20 goals - good for the second most on the Bolts - and 37 points in 33 contests this season.

The Lightning signed him to a seven-year deal with a $9-million cap hit as an unrestricted free agent this past summer.
