Ovechkin scores on 179th different goalie to break Jagr's record

Washington Capitals star Alex Ovechkin scored on the 179th different goaltender of his career, breaking his tie with Jaromir Jagr for the most in NHL history.
Ovechkin beat Ottawa Senators netminder Leevi Merilainen in overtime to seal Thursday's 1-0 victory and accomplish the feat. Merilainen was playing in his 10th career NHL game.
The goal was the 874th of Ovechkin's career in his 1,455th contest, putting him 21 tallies away from passing Wayne Gretzky's all-time record.
Ovechkin has done most of his damage against longtime Pittsburgh Penguins rival Marc-Andre Fleury, according to Capitals PR.
