Zegras returns from 22-game absence vs. Panthers
Anaheim Ducks forward Trevor Zegras returned to the lineup Tuesday against the Florida Panthers after missing the last 22 games with a torn meniscus.
Zegras suffered the injury on an awkward fall during the Ducks' 4-1 loss to the Vegas Golden Knights on Dec. 4. He underwent surgery on his right knee one week later.
Zegras was given a six-week recovery timeline after the procedure, meaning his return Tuesday was on schedule.
The Ducks went 8-11-3 in his absence.
Zegras mustered four goals and 10 points in 24 games prior to getting hurt.
He enjoyed back-to-back 60-point seasons in 2021-22 and 2022-23, but injuries have marred his past two campaigns. Zegras was limited to 31 games last season because of a groin injury and a broken ankle.
The 23-year-old was a finalist for the Calder Trophy in 2022. Zegras has amassed 59 goals and 164 points in 235 career games since being drafted by the Ducks with the ninth overall pick in 2019.
