Nathan Horton got tired of waiting for Bruins to re-sign him last season

According to Nathan Horton, if the Boston Bruins really wanted to re-sign him last season, then they wouldn't have taken so long to get it done.

Horton spoke with the Boston Herald Saturday about how the Bruins delayed a potential deal, which resulted in the 28-year-old signing a seven-year, $37.1 million contract with Columbus during the offseason.

“You wait till the last minute and I’m not going to wait around. But I’m happy with everything with the way it turned out.”

Horton, who spent three seasons in Boston, didn't feel like the Bruins were serious about bringing him back.

“All year nothing happened and I waited for a long time. It came down to the end and like I’ve said, for my family I’ve wanted to get a nice place where my kids can be outside. That’s kind of what it came down to. I heard a little bit about Columbus and it’s not the Columbus everyone knows. It’s up and coming and they have a great team, great people in charge. It’s what I was looking for.”

Horton has yet to play for the Blue Jackets this season as he is still out after offseason shoulder surgery.
