Capitals sign Charlie Lindgren to 3-year extension
The Washington Capitals inked goaltender Charlie Lindgren to a three-year contract extension with an average annual value of $3 million, the club announced Monday.
Lindgren was a pending unrestricted free agent whose cap hit is $1.1 million this season, per PuckPedia.
The 31-year-old is 13-10-3 with a .896 save percentage over 27 games in 2024-25.
The Capitals now have their goaltending tandem secured through 2027-28. Logan Thompson signed a six-year extension at $5.85 million annually in late January. His cap hit is $766,667 this season.
Lindgren is in his third campaign with the Capitals, who signed him as a free agent in July 2022.
The Minnesota-born netminder had a career year in 2023-24: He posted a .911 save percentage and tied for the league lead with six shutouts while authoring a 25-16-7 record over 50 contests.
Lindgren spent one season with the St. Louis Blues after playing his first five with the Montreal Canadiens. The Habs signed him as an undrafted free agent out of St. Cloud State University in March 2016.
