The Columbus Blue Jackets are adding forward Luke Kunin from the San Jose Sharks for a fourth-round pick this year, the teams announced.

The draft selection initially belonged to the St. Louis Blues.

Kunin carries a $2.75-million cap hit and is set to be an unrestricted free agent this summer. He previously played under Blue Jackets head coach Dean Evason as a member of the Minnesota Wild.

Kunin provides center depth for a Blue Jackets team that unexpectedly holds the top wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference. The 27-year-old has 11 goals and seven assists in 63 games this season while averaging 15:15 per contest.

Minnesota drafted him 15th overall in 2016, and he's played 422 NHL games split between the Wild, Sharks, and Nashville Predators.
