Crosby passes Gretzky for 4th-most points with single franchise
Sidney Crosby surpassed The Great One on Tuesday night, notching his 1,670th career point to take sole possession of fourth on the all-time list for production with one team.
The Pittsburgh Penguins captain accomplished the feat when he scored with 15 seconds left in the first period against the New York Islanders.
Crosby passed Wayne Gretzky in his 1,340th game. He's in his 20th campaign, having spent his entire career with the Penguins. Gretzky needed only 696 games over nine seasons to amass his total before the Edmonton Oilers traded him to the Los Angeles Kings in the summer of 1988.
Here are the NHL leaders in points with a single franchise:

---|---|---|---|
1 | Gordie Howe | 1809 | Detroit Red Wings |
2 | Steve Yzerman | 1755 | Red Wings |
3 | Mario Lemieux | 1723 | Pittsburgh Penguins |
