Edmonton Oilers captain Connor McDavid and goaltender Stuart Skinner both left Thursday night's overtime loss to the Winnipeg Jets and didn't return.

McDavid did not take to the ice for the start of the third period, and the Oilers then ruled him out for the rest of the game due to a lower-body injury.

The three-time MVP appeared to be in some discomfort following a collision with Jets defenseman Josh Morrissey in the second period.

Skinner exited with about five minutes left in regulation. Oilers head coach Kris Knoblauch said postgame that the netminder was removed by the concussion spotter.

"I wouldn’t have pulled him, and Stu didn't want to come out," Knoblauch said, per Sportsnet's Mark Spector.

Knoblauch had no further postgame update on either McDavid or Skinner, according to The Athletic's Daniel Nugent-Bowman.

McDavid notched an assist and won 57.1% of his faceoffs while logging 14:59 of ice time before departing.

He leads the Oilers with 64 assists this season. His 90 points rank second to Leon Draisaitl's 101 for the team lead.

Skinner allowed three goals on 16 shots before he skated off. Calvin Pickard replaced him, and the backup made three saves on four shots, allowing Kyle Connor's overtime winner.

Edmonton was already without Draisaitl, who missed the game and is day-to-day with an undisclosed injury.
