Knoblauch: Draisaitl will be back from injury sooner than McDavid
Edmonton Oilers head coach Kris Knoblauch had some updates on Leon Draisaitl and Connor McDavid as both star forwards recover from injuries.
"Leon will be back sooner than Connor," Knoblauch said, per Sportsnet. "We're looking at about a week, maybe shorter for Leon, and Connor will be longer than that."
The pair were each ruled out at least a week on March 21.
Draisaitl was hurt March 18 against Utah and was initially labeled day-to-day. The 29-year-old leads the league with 49 goals and is tied for second with 101 points.
McDavid appeared to get hurt after a collision with Winnipeg Jets defenseman Josh Morrissey on March 20. Edmonton's captain missed three contests earlier this season due to an ankle injury and was suspended the same amount for a cross-checking incident in January. He's recorded 90 points in 63 appearances this campaign.
The Oilers beat the Seattle Kraken on Saturday without Draisaitl and McDavid. They're scheduled to take on the Dallas Stars on Wednesday before clashing with the Kraken again Thursday.
Edmonton currently occupies third place in the Pacific Division, two points back of the Los Angeles Kings.
