Blues sign Snuggerud to entry-level deal
The St. Louis Blues wasted little time inking Jimmy Snuggerud to a three-year, entry-level contract, the club announced Friday. The 20-year-old winger will turn pro immediately and join the NHL squad for practice Monday.
Massachusetts-Amherst eliminated Snuggerud's University of Minnesota in the first round of the NCAA tourney Thursday.
Snuggerud netted two goals in the Golden Gophers' season-ending defeat. He tied for sixth among Division I scorers with 24 tallies and tied for fifth with 51 points over 40 games in 2024-25.
The Blues drafted the Minneapolis-born forward 23rd overall in 2022.
Snuggerud served as captain of the Golden Gophers in his junior and final college campaign. He was named one of 10 finalists for the Hobey Baker Award, which is handed out annually to the NCAA's top men's hockey player.
The son of former NHL forward Dave Snuggerud finished his Minnesota tenure as one of three players in program history to score 20 or more goals in three straight seasons to start a collegiate career.
Snuggerud has also won three medals representing the United States. He helped the Americans win gold at the 2024 World Junior Championship and bronze at the same event one year earlier, in addition to silver at the Under-18 Worlds in 2022.
