Capitals' Protas week-to-week with lower-body injury
Washington Capitals forward Aliaksei Protas is week-to-week with a lower-body injury, head coach Spencer Carbery said Sunday, according to Monumental Sports Network's Tarik El-Bashir.
Six games remain on Washington's regular-season schedule, which concludes April 17 against the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Protas was hurt early in the third period of the Capitals' 5-3 victory Friday over the Chicago Blackhawks. He was cut on the foot with a skate blade and had to be helped off the ice while favoring his left leg.

The 24-year-old Belarusian recorded two shots on goal in 11:39 minutes of ice time before leaving the contest.
Protas is in the midst of a breakout campaign, ranking third on the Capitals with 30 goals and 66 points in 76 outings. He's shattered his previous career highs of six tallies and 29 points, which he established last season.
Washington will take on the New York Islanders at 12:30 p.m. ET Sunday. Forward Anthony Beauvillier will draw back into the lineup in Protas' absence.
