Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby became the ninth player in NHL history to reach 1,700 career points with an assist on Bryan Rust's third-period goal against the St. Louis Blues on Monday.

The assist was Crosby's second of the night. He added a goal late in the third period.

Crosby reached the milestone in his 1,362nd game, making him the fourth-fastest to hit the mark behind Wayne Gretzky (711), Mario Lemieux (887), and Marcel Dionne (1,257).

Here's how Crosby stacks up on the all-time points list.

Rank Player GP Points
5 Ron Francis 1731 1798
6 Marcel Dionne 1348 1771
7 Steve Yzerman 1514 1755
8 Mario Lemieux 915 1723
9 Sidney Crosby 1362 1701

"Those are players that I grew up idolizing and didn't ever think that I'd be with them or near them," Crosby said, according to team reporter Michelle Crechiolo. "So, yeah, it's something I'm grateful for, that I've been able to play this long and be part of that group."

Crosby has been a point-per-game player in all 20 of his NHL seasons, meaning he should push toward fifth all-time if he stays healthy throughout 2025-26. The 38-year-old is up to 14 points in 10 games to start the young campaign.

The three-time Stanley Cup winner is only the fourth player in league history to record the accomplishment with one franchise, according to ESPN's Arda Ocal. Lemieux also did it for the Penguins, while Steve Yzerman and Gordie Howe achieved the feat with the Detroit Red Wings.

Crosby is under contract through 2027. His strong play to start the year has fueled a hot start for the Penguins, who are 7-2-1 after Monday's 6-3 win.
