Penguins trade Jarry to Oilers for Skinner, Kulak

The Pittsburgh Penguins traded goaltender Tristan Jarry and forward Sam Poulin to the Edmonton Oilers in exchange for goalie Stuart Skinner, defenseman Brett Kulak, and a second-round pick in the 2029 NHL Draft, the teams announced Friday.

The Oilers also acquired defenseman Spencer Stastney from the Nashville Predators for a 2027 third-round pick, the teams announced Friday.

Jarry has posted a 2.66 GAA and .909 save percentage through 14 games this season. The 30-year-old has a $5.375-million cap hit and is signed through the 2027-28 campaign.

Skinner, meanwhile, has a $2.6-million cap hit and is a pending unrestricted free agent. The 27-year-old has a 2.83 GAA and .891 save percentage in 23 games this year.

Kulak was in his fifth season with his hometown Oilers. The 31-year-old was averaging nearly 18 minutes a night through 31 games this year and has two assists and 38 blocks. He is a pending UFA.

Poulin, 24, was a first-round pick in the 2019 NHL Draft. The right-winger has two assists over 15 career NHL games.

Stastney fills the hole on the blueline left by Kulak in the Jarry-for-Skinner swap. The 25-year-old has one goal and eight assists in 30 contests while averaging 14:52 per game this year.
