Hejduk has decided to retire from professional hockey, NHL.com reports.
The 37-year-old forward spent his entire 14-year NHL career with the Avalanche, who chose not to re-sign him when he hit free agency this past offseason. Hejduk, who was a member of the franchise's Stanley Cup-winning squad in 2000-01, ranks fourth in club history with 805 career points.
