Versteeg was a member of the Blackhawks during their 2010 Stanley Cup Championship and was unloaded for cap reasons to the Toronto Maple Leafs, before landing in Florida.
General manager Stan Bowman has commented on the acquisition which he feels will be important to the Blackhawks during their 2014 playoff run.
Bowman on Versteeg: We can use him in a lot of different places... Having that depth will be critical in the playoffs.
