The Buffalo Sabres signed head coach Lindy Ruff to a two-year contract extension Wednesday, the team announced.
His current deal was set to expire this summer, but he's now locked in through the 2027-28 season.
Ruff earned a Jack Adams Award nomination this season after leading the Sabres to the playoffs for the first time in 14 years. Buffalo was eliminated by the Montreal Canadiens in Game 7 of their second-round series Monday.
The Sabres won the Atlantic Division and ousted the Boston Bruins in Round 1.
Ruff is the Sabres' all-time winningest coach. He oversaw the club's bench from 1997-2013 and then returned for a second stint last season after tenures with the Dallas Stars and New Jersey Devils. He's been a Jack Adams nominee with each organization and won the award in 2005-06 with the Sabres.
The 66-year-old is fourth on the NHL's all-time wins list at 950.
