Canada lost 4-2 to Finland in the semifinals of the IIHF World Championship on Saturday and will take on Norway for bronze to close out its tournament.
Finland used a three-goal second period to take over the contest after Canada led 2-1 at the first intermission. The Finns advance to face Switzerland in the gold-medal game Sunday.
Canada hasn't medalled at the event in the past two years. This spring's roster was undefeated before Saturday's loss and featured a cast of stars, including Sidney Crosby, Macklin Celebrini, John Tavares, and Mark Scheifele, among others.
Hockey Canada didn't win a major tournament in 2026.

The world junior roster claimed bronze in January, while the under-18 squad failed to medal. Canada's men's and women's teams also captured silver medals at the Milan Cortina Olympics, both losing in overtime to the United States.
Finland hasn't medalled at the Worlds since winning the event on home soil in 2022. Switzerland has won silver in the past two years.
