The Chicago Blackhawks are reuniting with veteran forward Patrick Kane on a two-year deal carrying an average annual value of $8 million, the team announced Thursday.
The contract includes a full no-movement clause, according to The Athletic's Mark Lazerus.
Kane was an unrestricted free agent after spending three years with the Detroit Red Wings. He signed one-year deals for each season, and his highest annual cap hit in Hockeytown was $4 million.
The 37-year-old spent the first 16 years of his career in Chicago, winning three Stanley Cups after being selected first overall in 2007. Kane also collected a Conn Smythe, Calder Trophy, Hart Trophy, Art Ross, and Ted Lindsay Award during his decorated Blackhawks tenure.
He ranks second in franchise history in points (1,225) while sitting third in goals (446) and games played (1,161).

The Blackhawks traded Kane to the New York Rangers prior to the 2023 trade deadline, concluding his first stint with the franchise. Chicago dealt the icon to accelerate a rebuild that eventually landed Connor Bedard with the first overall pick that summer. Earlier this offseason, Bedard, who recently signed a five-year extension, said the Blackhawks signing Kane "would be incredible."
Kane was limited to 67 games last season but notched 57 points and became the NHL's all-time American-born leading scorer. His offensive skill should help a Chicago squad that's finished 31st in the standings in three consecutive seasons.
