GIF: Nick Bonino's shootout winner was so bad that it worked
Centerman Nick Bonino has been a revelation for the Anaheim Ducks this season. The checking-line center has factored in on both of Anaheim's special teams units, he's emerged as a quality face-off man, and he's acquitted himself very well overall.
On Friday night the Ducks turned to Bonino as their second shooter in the tie-breaking skill competition against the Chicago Blackhawks. Bonino attempted to kick his left leg to fake a wrist shot before going to a backhand deke. Instead Bonino bobbled the puck feebly and straight ahead at Blackhawks netminder Antti Raanta.
Fortunately for Bonino and the Ducks, the puck somehow beat the Blackhawks rookie anyway:
