Steve Downie doesn't believe altercation with Gabriel Landeskog led to trade
Shortly after Philadelphia Flyers forward Steve Downie was traded from the Colorado Avalanche (with grinder Max Talbot going the other way in the trade), reports surfaced that the agitating, physical winger had been dealt partly due to his role in an altercation with Avalanche captain Gabriel Landeskog at practice.
After facing his old team on Thursday, Downie addressed those reports. Suffice it to say he isn't buying the story.
"I'd say me and 'Landy' had a great relationship," Downie told Frank Seravalli of the Daily News. "I think it was [overblown]. I don't make the trades. I really can't comment on it. Writers are going to write what they want. I never saw anyone quoted or anything."
Continued Downie: "You'd have to ask [the Avalanche]."
