Report: Hurricanes would consider trading Cam Ward
As the NHL's March 5 trade deadline approaches, the Carolina Hurricanes appear to be considering a deal involving goaltender Cam Ward.
Cam Ward trade is possible, but Carolina requires great return to consider in-season. He should return to action next week.

The 29-year old was drafted 25th overall by the Hurricanes in 2002, and he won the Conn Smythe Trophy as a rookie during Carolina's Cup winning season back in 2006.
Injuries over the past couple of seasons have limited his ability to play at a high-level, and at present it can be argued that the team has been better served with either of the two goalies behind him on the depth chart in net.
Goalie | Sv % | GAA | Record |
---|---|---|---|
Cam Ward | 0.895 | 3.15 | 6-7-5 |
Anton Khudobin | 0.935 | 2 | 6-2-0 |
Jusitn Peters | 0.922 | 2.38 | 7-9-4 |
As Dreger mentions, the Hurricanes will be looking for a healthy return on any deal involving Ward. Another factor, however, may be his salary; according to Capgeek, Ward is signed through the end of the 2016 season and currently boasts the fifth-highest cap hit among all NHL goaltenders.
