Joe Thornton, Patrick Marleau celebrate extensions by leading Sharks to OT win over Wild
On Friday, San Jose Sharks forwards Patrick Marleau and Joe Thornton signed three-year extensions to remain in San Jose. On Saturday the teammates, gold medalists and the first and second overall picks at the 1997 NHL entry draft combined for three goals to lead the Sharks past the Minnesota Wild in overtime.
That Thornton had a two goal game seems particularly noteworthy. While the Sharks forward has amassed 55 points this season, only eight of those points are goals. So 25% of Thornton's goal scoring output this season occurred on Saturday...
