TSN's McKenzie: Michel Therrien's job is safe
With the recent struggles of the Montreal Canadiens losing six of their last nine games, the first person in line to get a stare down from management is usually the coach.
Bob McKenzie was on TSN Radio 1050 Monday afternoon and was confident Michel Therrien's job as head coach of the Montreal Canadiens is safe.
"Not going anywhere. The interesting thing here is I remember a game Nov. 19 when Max Pacioretty woke up and had a hat trick against Minnesota which coincided with the Canadiens having a 9-1-0 run. Then they lost 6-0 in December and since have been 8-11-2... If you put the two numbers together they're over .500. I don't think [Marc Bergevin] is going to do anything with the coach."
McKenzie also mentioned in the unlikely scenario Therrien was fired, a coach fluent in French would be a necessity which limits the Canadiens options. Marc Crawford and Guy Boucher are the two options who McKenzie notes have out-clauses in their coaching contracts in Europe.
The Canadiens are 27-20-5 on the season and sit 4th in the Atlantic Division.
