Highlights of the Rangers-Islanders outdoor game at Yankee Stadium

The New York Rangers are the first NHL team to play back-to-back games on the outdoor rink -- and the first team to win them both.

With a pair of scrappy goals the Rangers held on to a 2-1 win over the Islanders in the second game at Yankee Stadium.

And when we say held on, we mean just barely. Kyle Okposo was low in the slot when a centering effort found him with eight seconds left and missed the net to send the game into overtime.

Played in front of an announced crowd of 50,027, the game was slow, aside from bursts of action near the end of the second and third period.

There was no sun glare to delay Part 2 of the Stadium Series at Yankee Stadium, but the 22-degree weather promised it to be a cold one. That is, if you don't prepare.

And of course the New York crowd was fashionable late.

The less punctual crowd was spared a performance from Cee Lo Green, if you're looking for a silver lining.

Wait a second...

Even for pure hockey fans, the ear torture was unfortunately the most memorable part of the first period, with neither team finding any rhythm. But who cares, this is hockey in a baseball stadium!

It looks even better at ice level:

The Islanders got on the board with this unbelievable second effort set-up from Cal Clutterbuck:

But the lead only last 40 seconds after a scrappy goal after the Rangers got back on the goal with Evgeni Nabokov down and Benoit Pouliot with an open net.

And less than five minutes into the third period, Daniel Carcillo added what would be the game winner. You can almost see Nabokov's heart break if you look closely:

And even if the NHL is killing the Golden Goose with all these outdoor games, you've got to admit they've been a success.
