Report: Maple Leafs willing to trade Nikolai Kulemin
The Toronto Maple Leafs are taking calls in regards to a deal involving forward Nikolai Kulemin, according to Darren Dreger of TSN.
Speaking on TSN1050, Dreger reported that Toronto is unlikely to pay Kulemin what he may command on the open market as an unrestricted free agent this summer, adding the Maple Leafs would be looking for a player they can use now instead of a draft pick in any deal involving the 27-year old forward.
Kulemin, drafted in the fourth round by Toronto in 2006, has scored eight goals and added eight assists in 44 games for the Maple Leafs this season. He recorded career-highs in goals (30) and assists (27) and shots (173) back in 2010-11.
The Russian is in the final year of a deal worth an annual average valuation of $2.8-million.
