Avalanche D Erik Johnson faces telephone hearing for slashing Islanders F Frans Nielsen
In the third period of Saturday night's game between the Colorado Avalanche and the New York Islanders, Islanders forward Frans Nielsen was caught in the hand by a dangerous slash from Avalanche defender Erik Johnson.
Johnson had cleanly lost a race to the puck in his own end, and slashed wildly at Nielsen's hands. You can see the painful looking incident in the .gif below:

Johnson will face a telephone hearing with the Department of Player Safety on Tuesday. The Avalanche defender was assessed a minor penalty on the play.
