1991 - Bourque shoots, Tugnutt saves
Two incredible stat lines were achieved in a 3-3 tie between the Boston Bruins and the Quebec Nordiques.
Defenseman Ray Bourque set an NHL record with 19 shots on goal, scoring once and adding an assist in the draw. His teammates accounted for an additional 54 shots, as goaltender Ron Tugnutt made an astounding 70 saves on the night.
Unlike Bourque, Tugnutt's performance was not record-breaking, as he fell ten saves short of Sam LoPresti's mark set in 1941.
He did earn a standing ovation from the Bruins faithful, which, as a member of the visiting team, is indeed quite a feat.
1993 - Lemieux, Stevens both hit 50 goals
Mario Lemieux and Kevin Stevens each scored a goal in a 6-4 Pittsburgh Penguins win over the Edmonton Oilers (played in Cleveland, of all places), becoming the first teammates to reach 50 goals in the same game.
This marked the first time Stevens reached 50-goals in a season in his career, while Lemieux had scored 50 three times prior and would go on to hit 69 on the season.
1974 - Orr comes through for sick boy
After promising a 16-year-old boy who was suffering from a rare disease that he would score a goal for him, Bobby Orr proceeded to register his fifth career hat-trick in a 7-0 win over the St. Louis Blues, reaching the 30-goal mark for the fourth time in his legendary career.
Because that's just the kind of guy that No. 4 is.
