Kings coach Sutter on Doughty: 'There's a difference between injured and hurt'
Los Angeles Kings defenseman Drew Doughty is dealing with an upper-body injury, which affected his performance through the last games of the regular season and the first-round series with the San Jose Sharks.
His ice time was cut in Game 2, to 23:29, which left Doughty unhappy. Even though he may feel like he can play regular minutes, head coach Darryl Sutter may be trying to save him for the second round - if the Kings make it there.
When asked if Doughty is playing through the same type of pain he endured in last year's playoffs with an ankle injury, Sutter was quick to dismiss the notion.
No, no, no. I don’t even want to compare that, but you know what? Pain’s part of it. There’s a difference between "injured" and "hurt." You know what? Obviously, you’re talking about Drew. Drew’s a tough guy. He’s going to go out and play. That’s the way it works.
