NHL suspends Wild's Matt Cooke 7 games for knee-on-knee hit

The NHL has suspended Minnesota Wild forward Matt Cooke seven games for his knee-on-knee hit on Colorado Avalanche defenseman Tyson Barrie.

Due to the length of the suspension, one game longer than the six-game appeal threshold, Cooke has 48 hours to appeal to commissioner Gary Bettman. And if the suspension isn't fully served in the playoffs, it'll carry over into next season.
