Red Wings considering use of compliance buy-out on Jordin Tootoo
Ron Chenoy / USA TODAY Sports
Hoping to rid themselves of the $1.9 million owed to forward Jordin Tootoo next year, the Detroit Red Wings are mulling the use of their last compliance buy-out should they fail to locate a trading partner, according to Helene St. James of The Detroit Free Press.
Tootoo played just 11 games with the Wings this season, registering an assist and a minus-three rating before spending most of the season as a handsomely-paid AHL grinder.
The 5-foot-9, 194-pound forward has disappointed since signing a three-year, $5.7-million deal in Detroit ahead of the 2012-13 season.
