Pittsburgh Penguins center Sidney Crosby, Anaheim Ducks center Ryan Getzlaf and Philadelphia Flyers center Claude Giroux have been announced as 2013-14 Hart Trophy finalists per NHL.com.
The Hart Trophy was first awarded in 1924, and is named after Dr. David Hart who donated the original trophy to the NHL. The original Hart Trophy was retired in 1960, and was replaced by the current trophy (known as the Hart Memorial Trophy).
Every player who has won the Hart Trophy in the past has been elected to the Hockey Hall of Fame, with the exception of Tommy Anderson, Al Rollins and Eric Lindros.
